The volume of water that travels through catch basins and storm sewers causes them to deteriorate over time. Leaks from cracks in the catch basin's base can cause water to pool in the area beneath it.

The catch basin will eventually settle into the hole it makes in the pavement. Frost causes heaving in the Midwest and other locations with seasonal temperatures because water seeps beneath the catch basin, freezes (expands), and then melts, leaving a gap.

Water cannot easily drain from a parking lot's pavement because of inadequate drainage. As long as there is a place to connect the drain pipes or allow water to run off, installing a storm basin is usually the best option.

Catch Basin Installation

L2H Group will inspect your parking lot to determine the current quantity and placement of catch basins before beginning installation of a new one. The paved surface often did not have a consistent slope, resulting in puddles in low areas.

The first step in establishing a catch basin is excavating the designated low area and setting a catch basin made of precast concrete, along with any required adjustment rings. The basin is then raised to the necessary height for drainage and fitted with a cast-iron frame and lid.

Crushed aggregate is used to refill the excavation site, which is subsequently compacted and leveled. The final step involves installing reinforced concrete around the outside.

Catch Basin Replacement

The first step in installing new catch basins is to map out where all of the property's utilities are. To further improve compaction and aesthetics, the areas' perimeters are dug or sawn. Excavation and disposal to a permitted landfill follow the removal of the existing deteriorated block or precast concrete catch basin.

After that, a catch basin made of precast concrete is set up and connected to the preexisting drainage pipes using the appropriate adjustment rings. The old basin's cast-iron frame and cover will be put on the new one, with the height adjusted so that drainage is optimal. Crushed aggregate is used to refill the excavated area(s), which is subsequently leveled and compacted.

Then, the hot asphalt mix will be laid by L2H Group and compacted and rolled to the current grade. In addition to asphalt, we can build reinforced concrete for more durability if desired.
